About Northbound Points
A Canadian points and personal-finance publication that treats every claim like it will be checked — because it will be.
What we do
We explain Aeroplan and Canadian travel cards the way a careful friend would: the actual numbers, the actual rules, the actual dates. Three things run across everything we publish:
- Run the Numbers — points-vs-cash math and card math, with the formula shown, not just the answer.
- Program Rules, Translated — Aeroplan's rules (stopovers, Family Sharing, dynamic pricing) in plain English, with the limits most guides skip.
- Card Verdicts — monthly rankings of Canadian travel cards, fees included, weak spots named.
How we're different
Most points content is written to sell the card in the headline. Ours is written to survive a fact-check. Every guide shows when its facts were verified and where they're from. When reputable sources disagree — it happens with welcome offers more often than you'd think — we say so on the page instead of picking the bigger number.
Who's behind it
Northbound Points is produced by a small Canadian team that prefers to let the work speak. We hold the cards we rank, we fly the programs we explain, and we don't publish our names for the same reason we don't ask for yours: the math doesn't need a personality cult.
Corrections
Points programs change constantly — charts, fees, and rules move. If you spot an error, contact us through the channel's community posts and we will correct it, visibly, with a date. A correction is a feature, not an embarrassment.
