Affiliate disclosure
Plain language, up front, because Canadian law and basic decency both require it.
How this publication makes money
Some links on this site and in our video descriptions are affiliate links. If you apply for a credit card or buy a product through one of them, the issuer or merchant may pay Northbound Points a commission. It costs you nothing extra — the card's fees and offers are identical whether you arrive through our link or type the bank's address yourself.
This is a material connection, disclosed under the Competition Bureau of Canada's guidance on influencer marketing and deceptive marketing practices. Affiliate commissions are one of this publication's revenue sources, alongside advertising revenue from the YouTube Partner Program.
What commissions do not buy
- Rankings are editorial. No issuer pays for placement, position, or a favourable verdict.
- Cards are ranked on published fees, earn rates, welcome offers, insurance, and perks — the same criteria whether or not an affiliate program exists for that card.
- Where a card has a serious weakness (a missing insurance benefit, a fee increase coming), we say so on the ranking page itself, affiliate link or not.
Not financial advice
Northbound Points publishes general educational information about points programs and credit cards. We are not financial advisors, and nothing here is personalized financial advice. Credit cards charge high interest when balances are carried — no points program makes carrying a balance worthwhile. If a card doesn't fit your spending and payment habits, the right verdict is "don't apply," and we'll say that too.
Accuracy
Program rules, fees, and offers change. Pages on this site carry the date their facts were last verified. The issuer's own page governs at the moment you apply — check it.
Synthetic media
Our videos use AI-generated narration and generated visuals, and are labelled as synthetic/altered content on YouTube accordingly. The analysis, scripts, and fact-checking are editorial work; the voice is a tool.
